Sash Window Renovation.

Sliding Sash Windows tend to get very stiff to open/close due to been painted over many years, quite often unable to open at all. If they are loose in the frame making them easy to move then they will most likely rattle and let in draughts, dirt and noise. Over previous years the value of period features like sash windows has been reconised more and more. Overhauling a sash window is a straight forwad process carried out by a joiner by removing the sashes and fitting draught seals to each sash and refitting. With growing concern about climate change and saving energy, more people are concerned about energy efficiecy in their homes. The cost of replacement windows would be considerably more than repairs. Replacement uPVC windows have a life span of around 25 years, (Depending on the 'standard' of window fitted) uPVC windows have environmental issues when come to dispose of them. Timber windows have a much longer lifespan (As long as they are looked after). Sash windows are a big part of our heritage, significantly contributing to the charm of the building.
